NBA Injury Report for Friday, December 7

It seems like the combined injury list is working out pretty well, so I’m going to stick with this format for awhile.  Don’t forget that you can check the @FantasyNBADaily Twitter Feed on the homepage for injury updates throughout the day.  Posted 8:30 AM EST:

James Harden (HOU) – Harden suffered a minor toe injury Wednesday.   Give it a check before tipoff just to make sure he’s a go.

Chandler Parsons (HOU) – Still dealing with a shoulder injury and sat out the contact portion of practice.  He’s probable for tonight, but check it closer to tipoff.

Omer Asik (HOU) – Asik is dealing with the flu, be careful using him tonight.

Chris Kaman (DAL) – Suffered a left ankle sprain late in Thursday’s game.  No word on the severity or how much time he’ll miss.  Brandan Wright would be a good short term pickup if Kaman misses time.

P.J. Tucker (PHO) – Sprained MCL Thursday night.

Raymond Felton (NYK) – Aggravated his already sore left thumb last night.  Could eventually miss a game to let it heal, be careful using him.

Al Jefferson (UTA) – Suffered a back injury in his last game.  Check his status closer to tipoff just to make sure he’s playing tonight.  GTD.

Shawn Marion (DAL) – Had to leave last night’s game with a strained right groin.

Devin Harris (ATL) – Missed practice Thursday with a sore ankle.  GTD Friday.

Brook Lopez (BKN) – Out Friday with foot injury.

Nicolas Batum (POR) – Suffered a back injury Wednesday.  GTD Friday.

Nick Young (PHI) – Doubtful Friday with a toe injury.

Carmelo Anthony (NYK) – Missed last night’s game with a finger laceration.

Derrick Favors (UTA) – GTD with plantar fasciitis.

Dion Waiters (CLE) – Out Friday with an ankle injury.

Reggie Evans (BKN) – GTD with the flu.

Kyle Korver (ATL) – Doubtful tonight with back spasms.

Kwame Brown (PHI) – Gametime decision with an illness.

Trevor Ariza (WAS) – Out 2-3 weeks with a calf injury.

Rip Hamilton (CHI) – Out 2 weeks with a foot injury.

NBA Injury Report for Thursday, December 6

I got a few suggestions from readers to add a daily injury report with all injuries combined into a single post instead of broken down in individual posts, so I’m going to give that a try.  It seems like a pretty good idea and might make a quicker read.  I’ll try it for a few days and you guys let me know what you think.

Tony Allen (MEM) – Allen missed his last game with back spasms and it isn’t known how much time he’ll miss.  Quincy Pondexter picked up most of Allen’s minutes and had a pretty good game going for 16 points.

Rip Hamilton (CHI) – Torn plantar fascia, out two weeks.  Marco Belinelli got the last start, but did nothing.  The Bulls could go with Nate Robinson at PG and Kirk Hinrich at SG in the next one.

Deron Williams (BKN) – Williams is still dealing with wrist soreness, but it shouldn’t cause him to miss any time.  He logged 41 minutes Tuesday, scoring 33.

Andrei Kirilenko (MIN) – Kirilenko is dealing with back problems and will probably miss another week.  Josh Howard has covered well for Kirilenko and is worth a look while Andrei is out.

Trevor Ariza (WAS) – Ariza suffered a calf injury Tuesday night.  If he’s forced to miss time, look for Martell Webster to move into the starting lineup.  Webster could be a nice short term add, depending on how much time Ariza is going to miss.

Pau Gasol (LAL) – Gasol missed Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s  games with knee tendonitis.  Antawn Jamison will get the start and is a must add if he’s somehow still on you wire.

Mario Chalmers (MIA) – Chalmers suffered an injury to his left ring finger and couldn’t finish Tuesday’s game.  X-Rays were negative and it isn’t known how much time he’ll miss.

Norris Cole (MIA) – The Heat are now hurting at PG as Norris Cole also missed Tuesday’s game with a hamstring problem.  No word on how long Cole will be out, but it might not be too long.

Nick Young (PHI) – Young missed Tuesday night’s game with a toe injury.  He’s day to day.

Dion Waiters (CLE) – Waiters missed Wednesday with an ankle problem.

Leandro Barbosa (BOS) – Barbosa missed Wednesday with an illness.

Danny Green (SAS) – Green is suffering from a hamstring injury.  Big minutes for Manu Ginobili when Green is out.

Kyle Korver (ATL) – Korver was out Wednesday with a back injury.

Al Jefferson (UTA) – Big Al left last night’s game with back spasms, check his availability for Friday’s matchup.  Hopefully, Jefferson owners have Enes Kanter handcuffed on the bench.

Marvin Williams (UTA) – Williams returned from missing two games with a concussion, but only got 23 minutes.  Keep him benched for another game or two if he’s somehow on your team.

Jameer Nelson (ORL) – Nelson suffered a minor head injury Wednesday, but shouldn’t miss time.  Check it Friday just to be safe.

Kosta Koufos (DEN) – Missed Wednesday with the flu.

Carmelo Anthony (NYK) – Suffered a cut on his left ring finger that required six stitches.  He’s a gametime decision tonight.  Look for J.R. Smith to cover if Melo can’t go.

Nicolas Batum (POR) – Suffered a back injury.  Not sure how serious it is and hopefully we get a report today, but definitely check it before using him in his next one.

Chauncey Billups (LAC) – Billups missed Wednesday nigh with a foot injury.  Hope he didn’t rush back too soon from his achilles injury.

Linas Kleiza (TOR) – Missed Wednesday with a hip injury.  Mickael Pietrus could start seeing big minutes and is worth a waiver wire add.

Mike Dunleavy (MIL) – Missed Wednesday with a knee bruise.  This is how serious knee injuries always start, the famous ‘knee bruise’.  Hopefully, that isn’t the case with Dunleavy.

Steve Blake (LAL) – Underwent abdominal surgery, out 6-8 weeks.  Why do I get the feeling that the Lakers won’t peak until right about the time the playoffs roll around?

Richard Hamilton – Torn Plantar Fascia, Left Foot

Rip Hamilton ($4400) tore the plantar fascia in his left foot and will miss one week.  The injury isn’t as bad as it sounds, as tearing it is usually much better, and different, from guys who suffer chronic plantar fasciitis.  I’d expect a week, two at the longest.

Keep an eye on Jimmy Butler while Hamilton is out.  I posted a waiver wire preview on Butler last week that you can find HEREButler could get the start and a real chance to show what he’s got.  A good showing could go a long way toward gaining some significant playing time later in the season.

Anderson Varejao – Dislocated Finger

Anderson Varejao ($8100) dislocated his right ring finger Saturday but was able to return to the game and finish with a pretty solid line of 19 points and 17 rebounds.  He had X-rays on the finger which were negative.  There’s no indication that he’s going to miss any time, but a dislocated finger is much sorer a couple of days after it happens, so be safe and check his status for tonight’s game against Detroit.

If Varejao can’t play, look for Tyler Zeller($3600) to pick up a start.

Brook Lopez – Sprained Foot, Out Two Games

Brook Lopez ($7600) was diagnosed with a mildly sprained right foot, the same foot he injured last year which caused him to miss almost the entire 2011-2012 season.  Lopez will miss Friday’s game in Orlando and Saturday’s game in Miami.

Andray Blatche ($4100) could pick up starts in both games and makes a great daily fantasy cash game play.  Reggie Evans ($3700) could also see some extra minutes.
