Jeff Green (BOS) – Re-signed with the Celtics. This doesn’t help his fantasy value at all since he’ll probably shift to backing up Paul Pierce at SF. The Celtics just brought in Brandon Bass to backup Kevin Garnett at PF.
Brandon Bass (BOS) – Signed with the Celtics and will backup Kevin Garnett at PF. He’s also got some competition for minutes against the newly acquired Chris Wilcox. His fantasy value is a little lower in Boston than it was in Orlando although there is a chance that Kevin Garnett might see more time at center, thereby providing more PF minutes for Bass.
Glen Davis (ORL) – Traded to the Magic where he will compete for minutes with Ryan Anderson. He should have about the same fantasy value in Orlando as he did in Boston, unless Dwight Howard gets traded, then his value might rise.
Thad Young (PHI) – Re-signed with Philadelphia. Young needs to be on the court for major minutes this season and it looks like the Sixers might be committed to that. Look for a breakout season from Young if he gets the minutes.
Gilbert Arenas (FA) – Waived by the Magic. His fantasy value is undetermined until he finds a home.
Jason Richardson (ORL) – Re-signed with the Magic. Richardson might get a few more minutes with Arenas out of the guard rotation. The real victim on this signing is J.J. Redick, who will continue to accept a backup role off the bench.
Brandon Roy (POR) – Roy has retired from the game due to medical reasons. Wesley Matthews should take over the starting SG spot and get all the minutes he can handle. Move Matthews up your draft board.
Eric Bledsoe (LAC) – Bledsoe had knee surgery a couple of months ago, but it couldn’t be reported due to the lockout rules. He’s out until at least late January. Not draftable in one year leagues.
Marcus Thornton (SAC) – Sacramento has locked Thornton up for 5 years and should plug him into the starting SG spot this season. Thornton put up huge stats after arriving in Sacramento and is moving up draft boards pretty quickly.
Tyson Chandler (NYK) – Signed with the Knicks and will start at center. I’m not a huge Chandler fan and playing alongside Amare Stoudemire isn’t going to help his rebound totals. Definitely don’t overreach for Chandler.
Chauncey Billups (FA) – The Knicks screwed Billups over and cut him loose under the amnesty provision. Great news for Toney Douglas owners as he’s got a great shot at sliding into the starting PG spot if he can beat out Mike Bibby. Look for Billups to land with a contender, and if he does he’ll have great fantasy value. If there is an owner in your league who might be willing to give Billups away for peanuts, definitely give him a gamble.
Mike Bibby (NYK) – Bibby signed with the Knicks. His defense is horrible and he’s getting up there in age. He’s a veteran though and might be given the starting PG spot in an uptempo Knicks offense, which isn’t such a bad fantasy role.
Vlad Radmanovic (ATL) – Signed by the Hawks but probably won’t have any fanasy value unless you need some cheap threes.
Ronny Turiaf (WAS) – Moved to the Wizards as part of the Tyson Chandler deal. He’ll backup JaVale McGee and doesn’t hold much potential for fantasy value. He’s one of those guys who’s way more valuable in real life than in the fantasy game.
LaMarcus Aldridge (POR) – Underwent a heart procedure and will be out about two weeks. This isn’t a new issue for Aldridge as he’s known about this for a few years. He might get off to a slow start but should be just fine for fantasy owners.
Lamar Odom (DAL) – Odom has been traded to the Mavericks. I’m not sure if this deal is official yet, but it seems to be pretty certain. Not sure what his role is going to be in Dallas, but it’s an incredible pickup by the Mavs. This surely means that the Lakers are making a run at Dwight Howard.
