Fantasy Basketball Daily News: Super Bowl Hangover Edition (2/8/10)

Sorry for the lack of news yesterday, but the Super Bowl party got started a little earlier than expected and went a little later than planned.  I pretty much totally blew off basketball yesterday, but there wasn’t much going on anyway with only a few games.  Only three games on the schedule for Monday.

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Kobe Bryant could miss his next game so keep him benched in daily fantasy cash games.
  • Raymond Felton rolled an ankle and is questionable for Tuesday.  D.J. Augustin will likely get the start if Felton can’t go.
  • Marquis Daniels returned for Boston after missing 29 games.   He might be a decent waiver wire pickup given the ever present injury risks on the Celtics.
  • Luol Deng missed practice Monday with a shoulder tendonitis.  Check his gametime status for Tuesday.
  • Paul Pierce was able to return from a sprained foot and managed to log 30 minutes.
  • Delonte West is expected to return Tuesday.
  • Joe Johnson has the flu and might not play Tuesday.
  • Jose Calderon returned from injury, but he’s still in a timeshare with Jarrett Jack and isn’t much of a play.
  • Hedo Turkoglu returned after missing a few games with a broken cheekbone.
  • Chris Douglas-Roberts is out with back spasms.
  • DeMar DeRozan returned after missing time with an ankle injury.  He’s nothing more than roster filler, but he will have a few really good nights.
  • Marco Belinelli missed the Kings game with a sore ankle.  He lost any value he may have had with the return of DeRozan.
  • Corey Maggette will miss some time with a dislocated finger.
  • Tyreke Evans is trying to play through his hip and ankle injuries, but he’s clearly limited.  Avoid him in daily games until after the all-star break.
  • Chris Duhon could return to the starting PG role which would really hurt Nate Robinson’s value.  Looks like the temporary move could have just been a trade advertisment for Robinson.  Nate’s dealing with a groin injury right now anyway, so bench him.
  • Erick Dampier is dealing with knee problems again.  Bench him.  Drew Gooden could pick up extra time.
  • Larry Hughes is suffering from a sprained left big toe.
  • Brandon Roy will miss the next two games and the all-star game to try and let his hamstring injury heal.
  • Andrew Bynum suffered a hip injury Saturday.  He’s likely out Monday.  Bench him just to be safe.
  • Trevor Ariza is out Tuesday with a hip pointer.
  • Marcus Thornton is questionable with a back injury.
  • Devin Harris is questionable Tuesday with a shoulder injury.
  • Gerald Wallace seems to be a bit limited by his recent hamstring injury.  Let him heal up before using him in daily games.
  • Tyson Chandler may be back soon.  Of course he’ll undoubtably get injured within 5 games of returning, so enjoy the handful of stats.
  • Arron Afflalo has an ankle injury and could miss Tuesday.  Ty Lawson makes a great daily game play, espcially if Billups misses.
  • Kyle Lowery is dealing with a ankle injury.  He could be out for two weeks.
  • A.J. Price suffered a concussion Saturday and his status is unknown.  Tough break for Price who had a chance to show his skills with Watson out for a couple of games.
  • Luther Head missed another game with a viral infection.
  • Jonny Flynn and Ramon Sessions have fallen back into a timeshare at PG.  Avoid the both until it becomes clear who the leader is.
  • Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony missed on Saturday.  They really need the all-star break off time to heal up.
  • Jason Thompson returned after missing a couple  of games to attend a funeral.  Hopefully, the off time will snap him out of his slump.
  • Paul Pierce aggravated his foot injury at practice and is questionable for Wednesday.  Bench him and the rest of the Celtics, Rivers will probably tank the Wednesday game in order to rest his stars from now until after the break.
