Fantasy Basketball Daily News (1/02/10)

Damn, more snow today with a high of 20 degrees.   Where is the global warming?  Can I get some global warming over here?  What a scam that environmental ‘crisis’ turned out to be.  At least we have 12 NBA games going tonight.  Cavs/Nets starts at 1:00 EST, so get your rosters in early.

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Spencer Hawes finally showed up to play, putting up 30 points, 11 rebounds against the Lakers.  It was a nice surprise for my GiveMeTheRock.com keeper league team.  Hawes bought himself another week on the squad.
  • Tyreke Evans missed another game, Donte Greene got the start but didn’t do much with it scoring 8 points in 30 minutes.  Evans says he’ll be ready to go Saturday, but I’m not betting on him.  Keep him benched.
  • Ron Artest missed Friday, but should be back early next week.  Lamar Odom got the start for Artest and had a great game, 20 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Matt Barnes has moved into the starting five for Orlando, sending Mickael Pietrus to the bench.
  • Jonny Flynn got 33 minutes Friday, Ramon Sessions got 15.
  • Nate Robinson finally got off the bench and responded with 41 points in 38 minutes.  Give him a few games to see if he is going to get consistent time before using him in daily cash games.
  • Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo will all miss on Saturday.  J.R. Giddens, Rasheed Wallace and Tony Allen should get starts.  Kendrick Perkins might be able to have a big game since he will likely be on the court for heavy minutes against a weak rebounding Andrea Bargnani.  Look for Ray Allen to bomb away from three point land all night.
  • Portland can’t catch a break.  Steve Blake will miss a few games with pneumonia.  Andre Miller should get heavy minutes and Jerryd Bayless may see extra time as well. LaMarcus Aldridge is also doubtful Saturday with a left ankle injury.
  • Jose Calderon hopes to return Wednesday against Orlando.
