Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/13/10)

LeBron James – He had some type of hamstring problem in last night’s game in Russia.  Rumor is that it was just cramps and when I find a definite update I’ll post it in the Twitter Feed over on the right  hand column of the Fantasy Basketball Daily Homepage.  Always check the Twitter feed for the latest player injury news and notes.

Minutes – Some starters are beginning  to stretch out a little and the daily cash games are getting a easier and more predictable.   Last night had Blake Griffin going 37 minutes, Derrick Roes 38, Joakim Noah 38, Eric Gordon 36, Chris Kaman 34, John Wall 35 and Luol Deng 31.

Samuel Dalembert – He’s got a groin injury that’s going to cause him to miss 4-6 weeks.  If you had any thoughts of grabbing DeMarcus Cousins cheap in your draft, please wake up, that dream just ended.  Jason Thompson and Carl Landry should also get a fantasy boost with Dalembert out.

Gilbert Arenas – He says he faked an injury on Tuesday night so that Nick Young could play.  Wouldn’t it just have been easier to tell the coach you just dont’ want to play?  And what happens next time when he really does have some ‘soreness’ and nobody believes him?  Anyone who drafts Arenas this season deserves every fantasy headache they get.

Andris Biedrins – I just don’t know what’s wrong with him.  He easily has the talent to be a nightly double-double, but just can’t seem to figure things out.  Playing along side David Lee isn’t going to help his numbers either.  Keep an eye on him for now, but it’s looking like he’s just a late round flier or waiver wire material.

Derrick Rose – The rumors of the improved three  point shooting appear to be nothing but a summertime wish.  Rose has only attempted 8 of them, missing 7.    Defenses will continue to sag off him making it difficult to create driving space and assist lanes.   It’s going to be a rough couple of months for Rose without Boozer in the lineup.

Tracy McGrady – Don’t be ‘that guy’ that drafts McGrady based on name recognition.  He’s got nothing left and should be avoided on draft day.  The lastest report has him with ‘tired legs’.  Not sure what that means, but the season hasn’t even started yet.

Luol Deng – He’s been shooting about 3 threes a game this preseason and could be a nice source of them this season.

Marcin Gortat – The Magic are experimenting with using Gortat and Dwight Howard together.   You could see this periodically during the season against bigger teams, but I think it’s probably something specifically aimed at Boston.  Gortat would be a great fantasy play as a starter, but for now he’s still waiver wire material.
