Fantasy Basketball Daily News and Notes (10/23/10)

Preseason is pretty much done and we have a few dead days until the season gets started.   I’ve got one draft left today in the GiveMeTheRock.com Keeper League and I’ll post those draft results on Sunday.  My Crimson Tide has Tennessee tonight and it’s probably going to be another close game.  Roll Tide!

PMSports.com – If you need some fantasy sports entertainment, checkout PMSports.com on a daily basis.   The latest video, Greg Oden is a Little Bitch was hilarious.  Go Kevin Durant.   If you’re a baseball fan, the Tim Lincecum NLCS Presser is awesome.  Add it to your daily bookmarks for sure.

Austin Daye – He’s probably the opening night starter at PF for Detroit after another good 22 point game Friday.

Corey Maggette – He’s healing right on time and doing what Corey Maggette do – 17 of 20 free throws last night.  If your league counts free throws made as a category, grab Maggette.

Lamar Odom – He’s dealing with a sore thumb, check his opening night status.

Kobe Bryant – He logged a solid 34 minutes Friday and seems to be rounding into regular season form.  Keep him active from the opening tipoff.

Golden State – What are these guys doing?  Monta Ellis 53 minutes in a preseason game?  Does Keith Smart not realize that he has to lean heavily on Ellis during the regular season and he’d be wise to get Monta rest at EVERY possible opportunity?  At least the big minutes are good for his fantasy value.

Mike Miller – Thumb surgery and he’s likely out until January.  Another hit for the Miami Heat.  Too bad.

Dwyane Wade – He’s going to try and play the season opener, but check it closer to gametime.  There’s no sense in wasting a game of DWade at your SG spot if you aren’t getting full value.

Mike Dunleavy – Left last night’s game limping.  He was looking like a nice sleeper, but any injury to his knee will kill his value.

J. J. Hickson – He isn’t looking as good lately and might be in danger of losing that starting PF job back to Antawn Jamison.  Hopefully, he’ll get it turned around quickly.

C. J. Miles – Suffered an ankle injury that required him to be helped off the court.  Check it later for an update.

Ty Lawson/Arron Afflalo – Both young Nuggets looked great again Friday.  It’s going to be curious as to what direction Denver goes with Carmelo Anthony if those two guys show the ability this year to lead a team.

NBA Owners – They are asking for a 33% pay cut for players.  They are threatening league contraction.  I’m already dreading the lockout soap opera of next summer.
