Fantasy Basketball Daily News: More Snow Edition (1/30/10)

Another snowstorm rolled through last night and my travel plans for Saturday are screwed.  I really hate winter.  Snow may also be affecting some of the NBA travel plans too, so check later this afternoon to see if several teams might be a little tired from their alternate travel arrangements.  Only 6 games on the fantasy schedule for tonight.

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Paul Millsap got his first start of the season filling in for an injured Carlos Boozer (strained calf) and had a monster game going for 32pts/14reb/7ast.   Not sure how long Boozer is going to be out with the calf injury, but I’d definitely pick up Millsap if you catch him on the wire.
  • I was actually able to snag Andrei Kirilenko off the waiver wire in one of my ESPN leagues yesterday.  He’s playing pretty well and should get solid minutes while Boozer is out.
  • Deron Williams missed Friday for a funeral.  He’ll be ready for his next game.  Ronnie Price got the start and did absolutely nothing with it.
  • It’s time to drop Beno Udrih, if you haven’t already.  Kevin Martin and Tyreke Evans are ball hogs which leaves Udrih out of the picture.  Udrih went scoreless last night, getting only 17 minutes.
  • Carmelo Anthony missed his third straight game Friday.
  • Antawn Jamison aggravated his right shoulder against the Nets.  Keep an eye on it and check his gametime status for the next one.  Might be a good idea to avoid him for a game or two in daily cash games.
  • Devin Harris might miss a couple more games with his wrist problem.  Keyon Dooling should continue to start in his place.  Dooling is a good cheap fill in for salary cap games.
  • Kobe Bryant tweaked his knee against the Sixers and also said he is dealing with some ankle soreness.  I don’t think it’s a problem, but you have to think Jackson will start to rest him  more as the playoffs approach.  Keep that in mind for daily games.
  • Lou Williams has really fallen out of the rotation in Philly.  He got only 9 minutes last night.   I had planned on Williams being one of my keepers in the GiveMeTheRock.com keeper league, but I’m not so sure now.
  • Earl Watson is dealing with a sprained finger.  I wish they would just go ahead and give the starting job to A.J. Price since he is clearly better than Watson.
  • Roy Hibbert fouled out in only 26 minutes against Cleveland.
  • Jermaine O’Neal suffered a knee injury Friday, but played through it.  Check his next gametime status.
  • Michael Beasley missed last night with a hyperextended knee.  Joel Anthony got the start but Udonis Haslem got the quality minutes and had a solid game.
  • Ben Gordon returned for Detroit after missing eight games.  He could only manage 13 minutes, so keep him benched until he works his minutes up.
  • Chris Kaman missed with a sprained left ankle.  DeAndre Jordan got the start.  Kaman is day to day and says he’ll play Sunday, but check his gametime status and look for safer options if you have them.
  • Brandon Roy may be back either Wenesday or Thursday of this coming week.  Jerryd Bayless will start until then.
  • Chris Paul suffered a knee injury Friday and is questionable for Saturday’s game.  Darren Collison would likely get the start if Paul can’t go.
  • Dwyane Wade is dealing with back stiffness suffered in Wednesday’s game.  He should be fine, but check his gametime status before investing heavily with him in daily salary cap games.
  • Tony Parker missed Friday, George Hill got the start.  Give Hill a look in larger leagues.  He was getting a few starts even before Parker was injured.
  • Marcus Thornton is another guy you want to grab off the waiver wire if he’s still out there.  It looks like he’s locked in to the starting SG spot for New Orleans.
  • David West had a big game Friday and seems to be completely over his recent ankle injury.  Start him when the matchup is favorable.
  • Amare Stoudemire got benched for the entire fourth quarter against Dallas.  It might be a good idea to avoid Stoudemire in daily salary cap cash games until after the trade deadline.
  • Goran Dragic is filling in nicely for Leandro Barbosa and is worth a look if you need depth at PG.
  • Keep an eye on Nicolas Batum.  He could be starting soon for Portland.
  • If you need 3’s for the stretch run, check you waiver wire to see if Anthony Morrow is out there.  He should return soon from injury and could be a nice play in the second half.
  • Mario Chalmers could miss several games with a sprained left thumb.
  • The return of Tayshaun Prince has killed Jonas Jerebko’s value.
  • Kyle Lowery suffered a sprained knee Friday.
  • Randy Foye is losing minutes to Earl Boykins.
