Saturday Fantasy News 10/10/09

The endless team previews and predictions are getting really old and I’m ready for the games to begin.  How many diffent ways can we say LA is going to be good and New Jersey is going to suck?  Basketball season is so much more interesting when there are actual games being played and boxscores to analyze.  NOTE:  I’m out of town until late Sunday, so there probably isn’t going to be a fantasy news column tommorrow.  ALSO, remember on Monday I’ll be making a few changes to the site, but I’ll make sure everything is ‘findable’.   On to the fantasy news:

The Sacramento Bee reports that Francisco Garcia suffered an arm fracture lifting weights on Friday.  If Desmond Mason wasn’t locked in to make the team and possibly start before, he is now.  I think Andres Nocioni should get the starting spot, but I’m not the coach.  Sleepers for minutes will be Andres Nocioni, Donte Green and Omri Casspi.

FanHouse.com with a season preview of Yi Jianlian and season preview of Boris Diaw.

Cleveland.com reports that Delonte West has returned to practice.

Chicago Sun Times reports that Derrick Rose is dealing with a sore ankle but it doesn’t appear to be serious.  Probably just management being extra careful with their star.

RotoExperts.com with results and analysis of their recent H2H fantasy draft.

FourPointPlay.com examines 10 players who might make the ‘sophomore leap’ in their second year.

Dime Magazine article:  The Five Most Intriguing Players With New Teams in 2009-2010.  Good article on what to expect from Carter, Marion, Turkoglu, A. Miller and Ariza.

NetsAreScorching.com with a link list to their season previews for every New Jersey Nets player.  I’ve posted a couple of these and they are pretty well written.  NAS has the whole team posted in one place now.

BuserSports.com with fantasy draft rankings and analysis for the Center position.

Charlie Rosen of FOX Sports with a look at the NBA’s coaches.

ESPN reports that Josh Howard is still suffering fromr the effects of offseason left ankle surgery and might not be ready for opening day.

In the ZZzone reports that Terrence Williams and Chris Douglas-Roberts looked really good on Friday night.  CDR led with 20 pts and could be making a case for a larger role at SG.  Devin Harris tweaked his ankel again and left the game.  No word on how serious it was.

Channing Frye is still going unnoticed in Phoenix.  With Shaq gone and Robin Lopez injured, he could get serious minutes.  Good article on him from MyDesert.com.

RotoSynthesis with comparison and strategies for Rotisserie vs. Point Based Fantasy Leagues.  If you missed earlier in the week, they also had a nice article comparing Rotisserie vs. H2H.

If you are in a keeper league, take a long look at Marcin Gortat.  The guy is going to be a monster.  Last night:  14 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks.  Yes, it’s preseason, but those are dream stats.  The only problem –  he’s stuck behind some guy named Dwight Howard.

BulletsForever.com reports that Brendan Haywood has a mild ankle sprain.

AtTheHive.com speculates that Mo Peterson will start at SG for the Hornets.  Mo can shoot, but he doesn’t do much else and he is usually one bad game from being right back on the bench.
