20 Fantasy Basketball Playoff Streamers (3/14/10)

Yes, streaming is a bad word in most leagues, but if you have been unfairly penalized by the basketball injury gods, then streaming is your only way of getting even.  Here are 20 guys you can find on just about every waiver wire that you may want to consider grabbing  or streaming for the first week of the playoffs:

  • Jrue Holiday (PHI) – He’s got the PG spot all to himself and he’s getting 35+  minutes a game.
  • Earl Watson (IND) – T.J. Ford just went down 7-10 days with an injury, so Watson be the primary PG.
  • Mario Chalmers (MIA) – He’s played well in his last two games getting 25+ minutes.
  • Delonte West (CLE) – Has averaged nearly 30 minutes over his last four games and has put up some nice lines.
  • Larry Hughes (CHA) – He was recently signed by Charlotte and could see some fantasy action, especially if Gerald Wallace misses extended time.
  • Matt Barnes (ORL) – He’s actually still sitting on some wires.  Nothing flashy, but he’s getting about 25 minutes a game.
  • Julian Wright (NOR) – He’s played an average of 37 minutes in his last two games while filling in for Peja Stojakovic.  Peja is out for 2 weeks.
  • Carlos Delfino (MIL) – Nothing flashy, but can help you in nearly every category.
  • Terrence Williams (NJN) – Williams is starting to show signs of life and will probably get a long look as NJN winds down a lottery season.
  • Jason Maxiell (DET) – Ben Wallace continues to be sidelined and Maxiell has been the beneficiary of extra playing time and has produced.
  • Goran Dragic (PHO) – Steve Nash badly needs some rest.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Dragic got a few starts soon or at least 25 minutes a night.
  • Toney Douglas (NYK) – Douglas is getting an audition for next season and should get minutes as the season winds down.
  • Serge Ibaka (OKC) – He’s been getting about 22 minutes a game and if you need some emergency blocks, he might be your guy.
  • James Johnson (CHI) – Luol Deng may miss more time and Johnson has been a decent fill in.
  • Bill Walker (NYK) – Walker is still floating around out there on most wires, but he’s getting an opportunity to show the Knicks what he’s got for next season.
  • Jannero Pargo (CHI) – Not sure how long Derrick Rose is going to be out, but Kirk Hinrich and Jannero Pargo should continue to cover for him, which means about 25 minutes a night for Pargo.
  • Johan Petro (DEN) – Kenyon Martin is going to miss most of the rest of the regular season and Petro is getting  minutes covering for him.
  • Shaun Livingston (NYK) – He got 30 minutes last night and could be getting a look for next season.
  • D.J. Augustin (CHA) – Augustin gets about 25 minutes every other game.
  • Travis Outlaw (LAC) – Outlaw has averaged about 39 minutes over his last two games.  You can’t ask for much more than that off the wire.

Fantasy Basketball Advice: Play Against the Weak Defense

When setting your daily fantasy basketball roster or playing daily fantasy cash games, one of the most important factors that should influence your roster selection is the quality of the opposing defense.  What may look like a difficult roster decision between two equally talented players often turns into a easy call once opposition is considered.

The Bottom 5 defenses (ratings in parentheses)  in the NBA through Week 8 are :
