Be back later with all of today’s NBA game previews and matchups.  For now, here’s some fantasy reading for a Saturday afternoon.

Fantasy Basketball Daily News: Super Bowl Hangover Edition (2/8/10)

Sorry for the lack of news yesterday, but the Super Bowl party got started a little earlier than expected and went a little later than planned.  I pretty much totally blew off basketball yesterday, but there wasn’t much going on anyway with only a few games.  Only three games on the schedule for Monday.

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Kobe Bryant could miss his next game so keep him benched in daily fantasy cash games.
  • Raymond Felton rolled an ankle and is questionable for Tuesday.  D.J. Augustin will likely get the start if Felton can’t go.
  • Marquis Daniels returned for Boston after missing 29 games.   He might be a decent waiver wire pickup given the ever present injury risks on the Celtics.
  • Luol Deng missed practice Monday with a shoulder tendonitis.  Check his gametime status for Tuesday.
  • Paul Pierce was able to return from a sprained foot and managed to log 30 minutes.
  • Delonte West is expected to return Tuesday.
  • Joe Johnson has the flu and might not play Tuesday.
  • Jose Calderon returned from injury, but he’s still in a timeshare with Jarrett Jack and isn’t much of a play.
  • Hedo Turkoglu returned after missing a few games with a broken cheekbone.
  • Chris Douglas-Roberts is out with back spasms.
  • DeMar DeRozan returned after missing time with an ankle injury.  He’s nothing more than roster filler, but he will have a few really good nights.
  • Marco Belinelli missed the Kings game with a sore ankle.  He lost any value he may have had with the return of DeRozan.
  • Corey Maggette will miss some time with a dislocated finger.
  • Tyreke Evans is trying to play through his hip and ankle injuries, but he’s clearly limited.  Avoid him in daily games until after the all-star break.
  • Chris Duhon could return to the starting PG role which would really hurt Nate Robinson’s value.  Looks like the temporary move could have just been a trade advertisment for Robinson.  Nate’s dealing with a groin injury right now anyway, so bench him.
  • Erick Dampier is dealing with knee problems again.  Bench him.  Drew Gooden could pick up extra time.
  • Larry Hughes is suffering from a sprained left big toe.
  • Brandon Roy will miss the next two games and the all-star game to try and let his hamstring injury heal.
  • Andrew Bynum suffered a hip injury Saturday.  He’s likely out Monday.  Bench him just to be safe.
  • Trevor Ariza is out Tuesday with a hip pointer.
  • Marcus Thornton is questionable with a back injury.
  • Devin Harris is questionable Tuesday with a shoulder injury.
  • Gerald Wallace seems to be a bit limited by his recent hamstring injury.  Let him heal up before using him in daily games.
  • Tyson Chandler may be back soon.  Of course he’ll undoubtably get injured within 5 games of returning, so enjoy the handful of stats.
  • Arron Afflalo has an ankle injury and could miss Tuesday.  Ty Lawson makes a great daily game play, espcially if Billups misses.
  • Kyle Lowery is dealing with a ankle injury.  He could be out for two weeks.
  • A.J. Price suffered a concussion Saturday and his status is unknown.  Tough break for Price who had a chance to show his skills with Watson out for a couple of games.
  • Luther Head missed another game with a viral infection.
  • Jonny Flynn and Ramon Sessions have fallen back into a timeshare at PG.  Avoid the both until it becomes clear who the leader is.
  • Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony missed on Saturday.  They really need the all-star break off time to heal up.
  • Jason Thompson returned after missing a couple  of games to attend a funeral.  Hopefully, the off time will snap him out of his slump.
  • Paul Pierce aggravated his foot injury at practice and is questionable for Wednesday.  Bench him and the rest of the Celtics, Rivers will probably tank the Wednesday game in order to rest his stars from now until after the break.

Fantasy Basketball Daily News (2/6/10)

The Atlanta-Washington game for Saturday has been postponed due to snow.  Adjust your rosters accordingly.

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Brandoy Roy is out Saturday.
  • Delonte West practiced and could return soon.
  • Kyle Lowery returned Friday for Houston.
  • Earl Watson missed due to personal reasons, A.J. Price got the start against Detroit and looked pretty good.  T.J. Ford also found some court time and got hot, which limited Price’s minutes.  I played Price in several of my daily games, but probably won’t do so again due to the presence of Ford.
  • Andrew Bogut left 6 minutes into the first quarter with a migraine and didn’t return.   He pretty much killed most of my daily fantasy cash games.  I don’t mind losing, but not like that.
  • David West and Emeka Okafor are getting really hard to play in daily games.  West was benched for the entire fourth quarter two games ago and Okafor was benched for the entire fourth quarter last night.
  • Peja Stojakovic seems to be the biggest beneficiary of Chris Paul’s absence.  He went off for 23 points against the Sixers.
  • Chicago’s frontcourt is really banged up.  Look to take advantage of the matchup in your daily games.   Derrick Rose and Luol Deng do make good plays though, because they are the only real offense that the Bulls have right now.
  • Dirk Nowitzki didn’t start Friday because he was late for shootaround.
  • Carlos Boozer is likely to play Saturday.  Paul Millsap will probably find his way back to the bench, but I’d hold on to him, at least until the February 18 trade deadline.
  • Ben Gordon finally had a good game going for 26 points.  It might be time to buy low on him.
  • Anthony Randolph is healing slowly and might miss the rest of the season.
  • Sam Young returned for Memphis after missing two games with an allergic reaction.  Young definitely needs to be scooped up if you are in a keeper league.
  • Joey Dorsey got significant minutes for Houston on Friday and could help if you are in a deep, deep league.

Fantasy Basketball Daily News: Mike Dunleavy Resigns Edition (2/5/10)

Mike Dunleavy was removed as coach of the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday, but there doesn’t appear to be much fantasy fallout from the move.  The biggest thing that might happen is a trade of Marcus Camby.   Watch the rotation for a few days to see if there are any major changes.

Fantasy Basketball Player News and Notes:

  • Earl Watson is out Friday and Saturday to attend a funeral.  A.J. Price will be the starting PG, he makes a great cheap fill in for daily salary cap cash games.
  • Marcus Thornton is out with a back injury.
  • Allen Iverson is out again to attend to one of his children.  Willie Green should get the start.
  • Carmelo Anthony is out for Denver.
  • Chris Paul had his surgery on Thursday and will be out 4-6 weeks.
  • Kobe Bryant sat out practice with a sore left ankle.  Avoid him in daily cash games, he could get a surprise DNP at any time.
  • Paul Pierce hopes to return Sunday against Orlando.
  • Daniel Gibson missed the first half of the Heat game to be with his fiancee, Keyshia Cole, who was hospitalized.
  • Caron Butler should play tonight, but check it gametime just to make sure.
  • Carlos Boozer practiced and is likely to play Saturday.
  • Dirk Nowitzki practiced and said his thumb is fine, he shouldn’t miss any time with it.
  • Jameer Nelson and Mickael Pietrus both practiced and expect to play against the Wizards.
  • Joakim Noah is being shut down until after the All-Star break due to his plantar fasciitis.  He will miss four games.  Brad Miller should see an increase in  minutes.  Tyrus Thomas and Taj Gibson might also be helped, but they are dealing with injuries of their own.
  • Brandon Roy hopes to return Saturday.
  • Brad Miller will start Friday in place of Joakim Noah, who has been shut down.
  • Charlie Villanueva is dealing with a back problem.  Keep him benched.
  • Gerald Wallace is dealing with a hamstring problem, but says he’ll play Saturday.
  • Jerryd Bayless suffered a injured knee against the Spurs.  He was about to be headed back to the bench anyway with Brandon Roy likely coming back soon.  If you are in a keeper league and out of the race, grab Bayless as a speculative play for next season.
  • Tony Parker returned against the Blazers and logged 30 minutes.  It looks like the rest did him good, he had a nice game.
  • Surprisingly, George Hill still got his minutes and stats, even with the return of Parker.  If you picked Hill up as a fill in for Parker, you might want to think about holding him for awhile.
  • Udonis Haslem’s back problems limited him to 18 minutes againt the Cavs.  Joel Anthony may see some extra minutes if Haslem gets shut down for any games.  He’s a great source of blocks.
  • Roger Mason was the real loser due to the return of Parker, he got a DNP-CD.
  • Nate Robinson will get the start at PG for the Knicks tonight in place of Chris Duhon
  • Chauncey Billups is still dealing with a bad ankle.  Be careful starting him.
  • Marquis Daniels could return Sunday for Boston.
  • Omri Casspi is sick and might not play Friday.
