Oct 29, 2009 News
Only two games on the schedule tonight, but both are on TV in the TNT Doubleheader. San Antonio is at Chicago at 8:00 EST while Denver travels to Portland for the 10:30 EST nightcap. I dropped Anderson Varejao and picked up Marreese Speights in the GiveMeTheRock.com keeper league. I’m gambling on Speights for next year, and I already have Brand, Z. Randolph and J. O’Neal at center so Varejao wasn’t an important piece of the team. On to the fantasy news:
- I love BallDontLie.com’s daily review and you guys should mark it as one of your favorites for daily reading. [Ball Don't Lie]
- Lesters Legends with a rundown of last night’s surprise performers. [LestersLegends.com]
- Dime Magazine’s daily fantasy report. [Dime Magazine]
- Derrick Rose is expected to play in the opener vs. San Antonio. Tony Parker took a pretty hard fall in last night’s game, but is also expected to play in this one. [CBS Sports]
- Referee assignments for today. [NBA.com]
- Rip Hamilton injured his ankle Wednesday. Haven’t seen an update yet on the severity. [MotownStringMusic.com]
- Raymond Felton received 15 stitches in his mouth after a fall last night in Boston.
- Daily Fantasy Recap from Four Point Play.
- Matt Buser’s Yahoo Roto Arcade fantasy report.
- Jarvis Hayes injured a hamstring in Wednesday’s game which give Terrence Williams or Chris Douglas-Roberts enough time to steal the starting SF spot permanently.
- It might take Amare Stoudemire awhile to get back in basketball shape, so be patient with him. If you can work a buy low trade for him, then do it. Good article from BrightSideoftheSun.com on Stoudemire’s recovery. J. A. Adande also has a good article on Amare and his road back to being an elite player. [ESPN TrueHoop]

Fantasy Basketball Daily News (10/28/09)
Oct 28, 2009 News
Full slate of fantasy action tonight with 12 games going. Last night had some great returns from Garnett and Arenas and some real duds with Baron Davis and Trevor Ariza. Don’t panic, it’s only one game. On to the fantasy news:
- Last night’s fantasy roundup. [OpenSports.com]
- Daily Fantasy Recap from FourPointPlay.
- Dannger Granger is doubtful for the Pacers’ opener with a bruised heel. [IndyCornrows.com]
- Quentin Richardson will start at SF for the Miami Heat in the opener. Michael Beasley will move to PF and Udonis Haslem will come off the bench. [Miami Herald]
- New York Knicks will start Chris Duhon, Wilson Chandler, Al Harrington, David Lee and Jared Jeffries in the opener. [TheKnicksBlog.com]
- Ryan Anderson to get the start at PF for Orlando. Anderson spaces the floor for Orlando and can knock down the three, much like Rashard Lewis. [Orlando Sentinel]
- Al Jefferson will play in Minnesota’s opener. [ESPN]
- Mike Bibby and Al Horford will play in Atlanta’s opener. [BleacherReport.com]
- Stephen Graham will start at SG for Charlotte. [Hoopsworld.com]
- Several suspensions to remember tonight: JR Smith, Jason Richardson and Rashard Lewis.
- The NBA’s Dance Teams ranked 1-30, with photos. Nicely done sir. [BlazeofLove.com]
- Ronnie Brewer is suffering from back spasms and might be a risky play. [Miami Herald]
- Brandon Jennings will start at PG for Milwaukee. [Journal Sentinel]
- No word on who starts at PF for Golden St tonight. Maggette, Randolph and Turiaf are all candidates.
- Emeka Okafor says he will play in the opener. [Nola.com]
Fantasy Basketball Daily News 10/27/09
Oct 27, 2009 News
It’s finally here. Four games on tap tonight with two of them a TNT Double Header. At 7:30 EST it’s Cleveland at Boston and 10:00 pm EST it’s LA Clippers at LA Lakers. Best thing about the season getting underway: maybe now the ‘preview everything’ posts will stop clogging up my FeedDemon. Let the fantasy season begin.
- DallasBasketball.com looks at the Mav guards.
- OregonLive.com reports that Nicolas Batum will miss most of the season with a torn labrum. Run to the wire to pick up Martell Webster if you need 3’s.
- BasketballProspectus.com gives their final preseason team projections.
- ESPN reports that Glen Davis will miss ’significant’ time with a right thumb injury. I’ve seen 6-8 weeks, but that is just rumor. Davis’ absence should provide some extra value to Wallace and Perkins.
- Matt Buser of BuserSports.com takes you around the fantasy basketball world in Roto Arcade.
- DallasNews.com says that Shawn Marion’s calf feels fine and he is ready to go for today’s opener. Josh Howard will remain out of the lineup for an unknown amount of games. Jason Terry and Quentin Ross should pick up extra minutes.
- Dime Magazine’s Week 1 Fantasy Primer.
- ESPN reports that Blake Griffin has a broken left knee cap. Well, that clears up the Camby, Kaman, Griffin minutes problem. Bill Simmons blames the Indians. Clippers need to go ’Major League’ and sacrifice a live chicken to the basketball gods to get rid of that cursed luck.
- Pau Gasol likely won’t play tonight, so it might be best to go with another fantasy option just to be safe. Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum should both have big nights with Blake Griffin out and Marcus Camby hurting.
- Corey Maggette might be a decent fantasy start with Anthony Randolph nursing some injuries.
- Greg Oden might have a nice line vs. Houston (if he can stay healthy on the way to the arena). Scola isn’t quite healthy and Anderson isn’t much of a physical player.
- Orlando Sentinel reports that Ryan Anderson will get the start at PF for Orlando in their opener.
- Chicago Sun Times reports that Derrick Rose says he will play in the opener.
- Ray Allen had some stitches a couple of days ago but looks to be a go for the Celtics. Boston should put Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett and Perkins on the floor.
- Anthony Parker could get the start at SG for Cleveland. Best guess is Williams, Parker, James, Varejao and Shaq for Cleveland.
- Andray Blatche makes a nice injury fill-in if you need a starting Center. Blatche is a PF but Yahoo games give him C eligibility.
- Still no word as to who gets the SF start for LAC between Rasual Butler and Al Thornton. I’m guessing they split minutes pretty evenly, although the injury to Griffin could change that.
- Ron Artest should produce a good line tonight as he will probably get 38-40 minutes with Gasol out.
- Steve Blake should be the starter for Portland’s opener and it will be interesting to see how the minutes are split with Andre Miller.
